The touristic sector in Tunisia contributes with 6% to the IGP and touristic investments monopolized during the last decade 5.4% of the total investments.

The Tunisian tourism generates more than 10% of currency incomes of exportations revenues. The sector covers 65% of the trade budget deficit and provides 400 thousand direct jobs. On other hand tourism contributes in the development of several other sectors especially transport, communication and craft industry together with the basic infrastructure and amenities. These indicators reflect the increasing importance of the touristic activity in the overall development of the country.

During the first five months of 2009, the sector procured a set of satisfaction results made up of 1.097 MD. The number of nights reached 9.751 millions for 2.248 million tourists. Within this favorable framework, the 21st edition on the international exhibition on Hotel and restaurant equipment will be held from February 02 to 06, 2010 in the Exhibitions Center of Tunis-La Charguia "Expo Center".
